Aristolactam BI Chemical Properties,Uses,Production

Description

The roots of Aristolochia taliscana contains this alkaloid. Treatment with AC20 in pyridine gives the N-acetyl derivative, m.p. 236-7°C and on methylation with methyl sulphate, the N-methyl compound is formed with m.p. 196°C. The structure has been determined from the NMR spectra of the alkaloid and its derivatives.
