Uses4-Methylthiazole was used in the synthesis of catalytic dendrophanes, as functional mimics of the thiamine-diphosphate-dependent enzyme pyruvate oxidase. It was used in small scale preparation of 3-butyl-4-methylthiazolium bromide.
