以5-乙基吲哚啉-2,3-二酮为原料合成2-氨基-5-乙基苯甲酸的一般步骤：将氢氧化钠（6.5 g，162.5 mmol）溶解于蒸馏水（52 mL）中，冷却至30℃以下。随后，缓慢加入5-乙基吲哚啉-2,3-二酮（9.6 g，54.8 mmol），并持续搅拌。将反应浴进一步冷却至15℃以下，缓慢滴加30%过氧化氢溶液（15.6 g），同时控制反应温度在15-20℃之间。滴加完毕后，维持反应温度在15-20℃继续反应1小时。随后，缓慢滴加冰醋酸调节反应液的pH值至5-6，此时有黄色固体析出。通过过滤收集沉淀的固体，并用少量冷水洗涤，然后干燥。粗产物通过乙醇/水（1:1，v/v）混合溶剂重结晶，得到3.4 g黄色固体产物，收率为38%。
