U-56407 is a bright yellow, crystalline antibiotic that is isolated from fermentations of Streptomyces hagronensis. It is active in vitro against Gram-positive bacteria but not Gram-negative organisms. However, it failed to demonstrate in vivo activity in experimentally infected mice.
