α-蒎烯是合成冰片、樟脑、松油醇、二氢月桂烯醇及其他香料产品的原料,是松节油的主要成分之一。松节油是以富含松脂的松树为原料,通过不同的加工方式得到的挥发性具有芳香气味的萜烯混合液称为松节油。
α蒎烯由于其本身的环状结构以及双键结构,使其可通过环氧化、加成、异构化等反应合成萜烯醇、芳香醇等重要的有机化学品,具有极其广泛的应用。
