It is involved in the synthesis of vinyl and acryalte modified silica nanoparticles by using vinyltrimethoxysilane. Further, it is used as a silane coupling agent involved in the modification of fluorescein isothiocyanate-mesoporous silica nanoparticles with carbon-carbon double bonds.

3-(Trimethoxysilyl)propyl acrylate is a reactive monomer that is majorly used as a silane coupling agent for the formation of hybrid compounds. It facilitates the formation of a hydrophobic surface by lowering the surface tension and increasing the wettability.
