General Description
PD-1 (programmed death-1) is an immunosuppressive molecule, which is also known as PDCD1 (programmed cell death 1). It is located on chromosome 2q37.3. It is a member of immunoglobulin receptor superfamily.
Biochem/physiol Actions
Programmed cell death 1 protein (PDCD1) modulates lymphocyte activation. Single nucleotide polymorphisms in PDCD1 is implicated in systemic lupus erythematosus, an autoimmune inflammatory disease.
