It is also used in cell culture as a component of MEM non-essential amino acids solution..

- A component of MEM non-essential amino acids solution in cell culture.
- For the purification of tubulins from bovine brain.

General Description
L-Glutamic acid, an amino acid is mainly found in various food products in its free form. It is ubiquitously present in the brain of mammals.
Biochem/physiol Actions
L-Glutamic acid plays a major role in several metabolic pathways. It acts as excitatory neurotransmitter in the cerebral cortex. An plays a key role in learning, memory and brain aging processes. It is involved in neuronal differentiation, migration and survival in the developing brain. High levels of glutamic acid is observed in Alzheimer′s, Parkinson′s diseases and epilepsy.
