Magnesium fluorosilicate Chemical Properties,Uses,Production
Application
Magnesium fluorosilicate can be used as a hardener in concrete to improve its strength and hardness, and as a waterproofing agent. It can also be used in silica surface treatment for fluorination. Due to its toxicity, magnesium fluorosilicate can be used as an insecticide and can be used as a fabric insect repellent or as an active ingredient in insecticides. It can also be used in ceramics manufacturing. Therefore, magnesium fluorosilicate has a wide range of applications, serving as a concrete strengthener, concrete retarder, rubber latex coagulant, preservative, and textile moth repellent.
Description
Magnesium fluorosilicate is a water-soluble compound. When used as a sheep dip, it is not subject to mechanical or chemical “stripping” from dip wash.
Chemical Properties
Colorless or white rhombus or needle-shaped crystals. Odorless. Soluble in water and dilute acid, poorly soluble in hydrofluoric acid, and insoluble in alcohol.
Toxicity evaluation
Acute oral LD50 for guinea pigs: 200 mg/kg
