Uses
CI 77007 can be used as a pigment in calico printing, wall paper, mottled soap; bluing in laundry use; for coloring tiles, cements, rubber, but is now largely replaced by coal tar dyes; as a color in food.
Definition
A deep blue mineral consisting of sodium aluminum sulfate with some sulfur, widely used for ornaments and as a semiprecious gemstone. It was the original source of the pigment ultramarine.
