Uses
Divinyl tetramethyl disiloxane could be used as a additives(intermediates) in the production process of addition silicone rubber, silicone gel, liquid silicone, vinyl silicone resin, vinyl silicone oil, platinum chromium compound and others. POTENTIAL VINYL NUCLEOPHILE IN CROSS-COUPLING REACTIONS. 1,3-Divinyltetramethyldisiloxane acts as a potential vinyl donor used in cross-coupling reactions. It is also involved in the copolymerization reaction with aromatic ketones.
Preparation
The patent reports a method for preparing tetramethyldivinyldisiloxane, comprising the following steps: (1) mixing tetramethyldihydrogendisiloxane with a chloroplatinic acid catalyst to obtain a mixed solution; (2) bubbling acetylene into the mixed solution to carry out a hydrosilylation reaction, and after the reaction is completed, separating and purifying the reaction solution to obtain Divinyltetramethyldisiloxane.

Properties and Applications
Divinyltetramethyldisiloxane (DVTMSO) could used as a diolefin ligand in the complexes with d10-metal centers (M). This is a rather labile ligand capable of changing the π–π-bridging function to the chelating one in the ligand exchange reactions to form a stable six-membered cycle, for example, Pd(0)(CH2=CH–Si)2O. In addition, DVTMSO is the first representative of the series of unsaturated polysiloxanes, whose complexes, including those with Cu(I), serve as precursors for producing thin copper films by thermal disproportionation[1].

The Initial Threshold Screening Level (ITSL) for divinyltetramethyldisiloxane is being updated to 38 μg/m3 with an annual averaging time.
