1,3-Bis(bromomethyl)benzene has been used in preparation of four novel dinuclear half-titanocenes with meta - and ortho xylene bridges as new metallocenes 1 . It was used in the synthesis of dissymmetrical bis -macrocyclic salt 2 .

General Description
α,α′-Dibromo-m-xylene can cross-link and cyclize peptides containing two cysteine residues.
Hazard
1,3-Bis(bromomethyl)benzene is danger, it causes severe skin burns and eye damage, it may be corrosive to metals.
Reactions
1,3-Bis(bromomethyl)benzene reacts with oxidizing agents and bases.
Purification Methods
