酵素阻害剤

This sulfhydryl reagent (FW = 142.07 g/mol; CASs = 50-71-5 (free base) and 2244-11-3 (monohydrate)), also named as 2,4,5,6-tetraoxopyrimidine, is an unstable tetraoxopyrimidine that induces diabetes by selectively destroying pancreatic b-cells in laboratory animals upon selective uptake via the GLUT2 transporter. Protocol for Using Alloxan to Induce Diabetes: Step-1: Weigh and measure baseline blood glucose level of mice (Age: 6 weeks or older), adhering to the IACUC Guidelines for Glucose Monitoring of Blood. Step-2: Inject i.v. or i.p. with alloxan (70-90 mg/kg). Step-3: Beginning the day after the alloxan injection, blood glucose levels of each mouse should be checked daily or every other day for 5-7 days. Within 2-3 days after onset of diabetes (as indicated by blood glucose levels), mice should be implanted with an insulin-secreting pellet, when long-term study is necessary. Pellets typically release 0.1 U each 24 hr for >30 days). Mice weighing less than 25 grams require one insulin pellet; larger mice typically receive two insulin pellets to restore normoglycemia.
