(Bromodifluoromethyl)trimethylsilane (TMSCF₂Br) is commonly used as a source to generate dilfluorocarbene. TMSCF₃ (Ruppert–Prakash reagent) and BBr₃ undergoes fast halogen–exchange reaction to form MSCF₂Br.
