타르타르산 칼륨 나트륨 C화학적 특성, 용도, 생산

순도시험

  (1) pH : 이 품목의 수용액(1→10)의 pH는 6.5～7.5이어야 한다.

  (2) 옥살산 : 이 품목의 수용액(1→10) 10mL에 염화칼슘시액 2mL, 묽은초산 수 방울을 가할 때 1시간 이내에 그 액은 징명하여야 한다. 

  (3) 비소 : 이 품목을 비소시험법에 따라 시험할 때, 그 양은 4.0ppm 이하이어야 한다.

  (4) 납 : 이 품목 5.0g을 취하여 원자흡광광도법 또는 유도결합플라즈마발광광도법에 따라 시험할 때, 그 양은 2.0ppm 이하이어야 한다.

  (5) 수은 : 이 품목을 수은시험법에 따라 시험할 때, 그 양은 1.0ppm 이하이어야 한다.

확인시험

  (1) 이 품목 1g은 물 1mL에는 녹으나 에탄올에는 녹지 않는다.

  (2) 이 품목은 확인시험법 중 나트륨염, 칼륨염 및 주석산염의 반응을 나타낸다.

정량법

  이 품목을 건조한 다음 0.5g을 정밀히 달아 빙초산 50mL, 96% 개미산 30mL 및 무수초산 45mL를 가하여 용액이 완전히 녹을 때까지 가온하여 녹인 후 0.1N 과염소산용액으로 녹색으로 변할 때까지 적정한다(지시약 : 크리스탈바이올렛․빙초산시액). 따로 같은 방법으로 공시험을 한다.

개요

Potassium sodium tartrate is a double salt first prepared (in about 1675) by an apothecary, Pierre Seignette, of La Rochelle, France. As a result the salt was known as Seignette's salt or Rochelle salt. Rochelle salt is not to be confused with rock salt, which is simply the mineral form of sodium chloride. Potassium sodium tartrate and mono potassium phosphate were the first materials discovered to exhibit piezo electricity.
It is a colorless to blue - white salt crystallizing in the orthorhombic system. Its molecular formula is KNaC₄H₄O₆·4H₂O. It is slightly soluble in alcohol but more completely soluble in water. It has a specific gravity of about 1.79, a melting point of approximately 75°C, and has a saline, cooling taste. As a food additive, its E number is E337.
It has been used medicinally as a laxative. It has also been used in the process of silvering mirrors. It is an ingredient of Fehling's solution, formerly used in the determination of reducing sugars in solutions.

제조 방법

Potassium sodium tartrate, (KNaC₄H₄O₆) may be prepared by adding 0.5 mole sodium carbonate to heated solution containing 1 mole potassium bitartrate(KHC₄H₅O₆). (1M KHC₄H₄O₆ : 0.5M Na₂CO₃). The solution is filtered while hot. This solution is then dried to precipitate solid potassium sodium tartrate, as small crystallites.
Larger crystals of Rochelle salt have been grown under conditions of reduced gravity and convection on board Skylab .

Purification Methods

Recrystallise it from distilled water (1.5mL/g) by cooling to 0o. [Beilstein 3 IV 1223.]
