포름산게라닐 C화학적 특성, 용도, 생산
순도시험
(1) 비중 : 이 품목의 비중은 0.906～0.920이어야 한다.
(2) 굴절률 : 이 품목의 굴절률 
은 1.457～1.466이어야 한다.
(3) 용상 : 이 품목 1mL를 80% 에탄올 3mL에 녹일 때, 그 액은 징명하여야 한다.
(4) 산가 : 이 품목의 산가는 향료시험법 중 산가측정법에 따라 시험할 때, 3 이하이어야 한다. 다만, 적정은 얼음물 중에서 냉각시키면서 하는데 엷은 홍색이 10초간 지속될 때까지 한다.
확인시험
(1) 이 품목 1mL에 10% 알콜성수산화칼륨시액 10mL를 넣어 수욕중에서 흔들어 섞으면서 5분간 가열하면 특이한 향기가 없어지고 게라니올의 향기를 발생한다.
(2) 이 품목 1mL에 수산화나트륨시액 10mL를 넣어 수욕 중에서 흔들어 섞으면서 5분간 가열한 후 정치하고 하층액 1mL에 묽은염산 1.5mL를 넣은 다음 마그네슘분말 20mg을 여러번에 걸쳐 넣어 거품이 일어나지 않게 하고 황산(3→5) 3mL 및 크로모트로프산 10mg을 넣어 섞은 다음 온탕 중에서 10분간 가열하면 홍자색을 나타낸다.
정량법
이 품목 약 1g을 정밀히 달아 향료시험법 중 검화가측정법에 따라 시험하여 얻은 검화가와 순도시험(4)에서 얻은 산가로부터 다음 계산식에 따라 개미산게라닐의 함량을 구한다.
