A further steroidal alkaloid isolated from the leaves of Solanum giganteum Jacq., solanogantine has been obtained as a glass having no definite melting point. The base has been characterized as the N, O-diacetyl derivative with m.p. 219-221°C and [α]D +27.2° (CHCI3) and the N, N-diacetyl derivative with m.p. 111-112°C and [α]D +41.3° (CHCI3).
