개요
4-Hydroxy-3-nitropyridine (3-Nitropyridin-4(1H)-one) is an organic solvent that has a number of industrial applications. It is used as a raw material for the production of other chemicals and as a cleaning agent in wastewater treatment plants. 3-Nitropyridin-4(1H)-one is also used in the synthesis of amines and nitro compounds. This compound is found in high concentrations in urban air due to its use as a solvent and its presence as a contaminant in carbon tetrachloride. The sublimed form of 3-nitropyridin-4(1H)-one has been shown to react with primary amines, amines, and tautomeric compounds, leading to the formation of nitro compounds or chloride ions.
