| Synthesis | 2-Carbamoyl nicotinic acid (7.47 g, 45 mmol) was suspended in CH2Cl2 (50 mL) at 0°C and Et3N (13.08 mL, 94 mmol) and methyl chloroformate (7.65 mL, 99 mmol) were added sequentially under stirring. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 8 h. The reaction mixture was then diluted with CHCl3 (50 mL), washed sequentially with water, dried over MgSO4 and subsequently concentrated in vacuum.
