| Selenium tetrachloride Usage And Synthesis |
Chemical Properties | Selenium chloride is white-yellow deliquescent powder/pieces in appearance with a pungent/ garlic odour. Selenium chloride is non-flammable and on exposure to heat undergoes decomposition and emits toxic fumes of selenium and chloride. | Uses | It is used in the synthesis of other selenium compounds. | Uses | Fluorinating agent. | Hazard | Irritant. | Safety Profile | Poison by subcutaneous route. When heated to decomposition it emits very toxic fumes of Se and Cl-. See also SELENIUM COMPOUNDS. |
