Description
Acarbose is a C7N-amino cyclitol pseudotetrasaccharide that competitively inhibits α-glucosidase and is widely used in the treatment of Type II diabetes. It helps reduce postprandial hyperglycemia in diabetic patients by delaying glucose absorption.

Acarbose, derived from actinomycetes cultures, is a complex oligosaccharide and a widely used first-line oral antidiabetic medication. It works by binding to intestinal α-glucosidase, inhibiting its activity, and slowing the breakdown of carbohydrates such as starch, sucrose, lactose, maltose, and dextrin.
