It is an antibacterial peptide in bees, mainly produced when infected by microorganisms or other exogenous substances. It has an efficient and broad-spectrum bactericidal effect on Gram negative bacteria such as Salmonella, Vibrio cholerae, and Escherichia coli. Abaecin has great potential value in replacing the use of antibiotics in livestock production. Abaecin antibacterial peptide has a small molecular weight and low content in the body, making it difficult to separate and purify, and its natural production is very limited.
