NanoActive RAL is a nano-encapsulated retinal (retinaldehyde) active developed on PuriPharm's NanoActive delivery platform for high-performance yet well-tolerated anti-ageing and skin-repair formulations. Retinal is a vitamin A derivative whose biological activity is closer to retinoic acid than retinol, offering strong anti-wrinkle and skin-renewal benefits while generally providing better tolerability. However, free retinal is highly sensitive to light, oxygen and heat, and can still cause irritation in conventional formulations.
By encapsulating retinal in lipid-based nanocarriers that are finely dispersed in the aqueous phase, NanoActive RAL markedly improves the chemical and photostability of retinal during manufacturing, storage and consumer use. The nano-sized particles support more homogeneous penetration into the stratum corneum and a controlled-release profile, helping to maintain efficacy while reducing peak exposure on the skin surface and minimizing irritation, which is especially valuable for first-time vitamin A users and more delicate skin types.
