CART (62-76) (rat, human) is a peptide fragment of the CART transcription factor, containing 15 amino acids in its sequence, which can inhibit food intake. It attenuates NPY-induced feeding and reduces food consumption in food-restricted goldfish, while inducing anxiogenic-like effects in maze tests with increased performance in rats. It modulates the activity of the striatal norepinephrine, cortical, and hypothalamic serotoninergic systems but has no significant impact on dopaminergic pathways in the rat brain.
