Mazorelvimab is a humanized monoclonal antibody cocktail developed for the post-exposure prophylaxis (PEP) of rabies. It consists of two distinct monoclonal antibodies that bind to non-overlapping epitopes on the rabies virus (RABV) glycoprotein (G). This dual-binding design aims to enhance neutralization breadth and potency against diverse RABV strains by preventing viral escape. By binding to the glycoprotein, the antibodies block the virus from attaching to and entering host neuronal cells, thereby neutralizing infection. It is being developed as a passive immunotherapeutic agent to replace or complement traditional rabies immune globulin (RIG) in the prevention of rabies following exposure.
