Bepranemab is an investigational, humanized monoclonal antibody designed to target Tau protein. It specifically binds to the central region of the Tau protein, aiming to prevent its pathological cell-to-cell propagation and aggregation in the brain. By targeting this region, it is intended to inhibit the spread of Tau pathology, which is a key driver of neurodegeneration in diseases like Alzheimer's disease (AD) and progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP). It is currently in clinical development (Phase II) for the treatment of these Tauopathies.
