Osocimab (also known as BAY‑1213790) is an investigational, fully human monoclonal antibody that targets activated coagulation factor XI (FXIa), a key component of the intrinsic coagulation pathway. By binding to FXIa with high affinity, osocimab inhibits its enzymatic activity, thereby suppressing the amplification of thrombin generation and clot formation. This mechanism aims to provide effective anticoagulation while potentially reducing the risk of bleeding compared to traditional anticoagulants that target downstream factors (e.g., thrombin, factor Xa).
