Acetyl Carnosine is a natural dipeptide containing imidazole, which has antioxidant activity in cells, especially anti lipid peroxidation. When formulations containing Acetyl Carnosine are added to the eyes of animals, it may prevent or resolve cataracts by converting Acetyl Carnosine into another antioxidant, myopeptide. Acetyl Carnosine and related dipeptides, provided in specific formulations, may also have protective effects on the skin.
