Steps:
Oxalic acid N,Ndihydroxyamide (1).
To a stirred solutionof hydroxylamine hydrochloride (6.95 g, 100 mmol) in methanol (70 mL) a solution of NaH (4 g, 100 mmol) in methanol(30 mL) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 20 min,and the precipitated solid NaCl was filtered off. To the resultingmethanolic solution anhydrous oxalic acid (4.25 g, 47 mmol) ofwas added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 1 h, white crystalline residue was filtered off, washed with methanol (5 mL)and dried in the air flow for 24 h and for 2 days in a vacuumdesiccator over NaOH. Compound 1 (5 , 89%) as colorlesscrystals, m.p. 185-186.5 ° (decomposes). Found (%): C, 20.21;H, 3.14; N, 23.40. 24N24. Calculated (%): C, 20.0; H, 3.33;N, 23.3. 1 NMR (DMSOd6), δ: 4.13 (s, 1 , ); 8.03(br.s, 2 , NH). Found: m/z 120 [M]+. C24N2O4. Calculated: = 120.
