Chemical Properties
White crystals, soluble in methanol, ethanol, DMSO and other organic solvents, derived from Inulin.
Uses
Britannin has effects in anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antitussive and expectorant.
Biological Activity
Britannin, isolated from Inula aucheriana, is a sesquiterpene lactone. It induces apoptosis and autophagy in liver cancer cells by activating AMPK regulated by ROS, and has anti-proliferative and anti-inflammatory activities.
