Summary: Minocycline hydrochloride is a tetracycline-class antibiotic. It is used to treat infections caused by pathogens sensitive to this medication, including Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Pneumococcus, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Shigella dysenteriae, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Bacteroides, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Treponema pallidum (syphilis), and Chlamydia.

Indications: Minocycline hydrochloride is indicated for treating infections caused by sensitive bacteria, such as those of the skin and soft tissue, respiratory system, digestive system, genitourinary system, peritonitis, and septicemia. Topical application can improve various symptoms of periodontitis caused by sensitive bacteria.

Off-label Indications with Substantial Evidence: 

1. For the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis (in patients with short disease duration and low disease activity).

2. For the treatment of amoebic dysentery.

3. As an alternative treatment for community-acquired Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections.

4. For the treatment of nocardiosis.

5. For the prophylaxis of meningococcal infections.

6. Minocycline hydrochloride is utilized for the treatment of maltophilia infections.
