I. (S)-N-[2-[[Hydroxy(4-phenylbutyl)phosphinyl]oxy]-1-oxo-6-[[(phenylmethoxy)carbonyl]amino]hexyl]-N-cyclohexylglycine, phenylmethyl ester A mixture of Part G phosphonic acid (1.040 g, 2.18 mmole, 1.0 eq) and Part H amine·HCl (925 mg, 3.27 mmole, 1.5 eq) in dry THF (20 ml) and Et3 N (0.46 ml, 1.5 eq) was treated with excess N,N-dicyclohexylcarbonyldiimide (DCC) (1.155 g, 2.5 eq) and stirred for 6 hours at room temperature under argon. The suspension was diluted with EtOAc, precipitated DCU filtered off, the filtrate washed with 5% KHSO4, saturated NaHCO3 and brine, then dried over anhydrous Na2 SO4 and evaporated to an oil.
