5 Example 5 Preparation of gaboxadol anhydrate of Form I

A sample of the product from Example 1 was heated at 110 C. at atmospheric pressure for 1.25 hours. The X-ray powder diffraction spectrum of the resulting solid was recorded at ambient temperature (CuKα radiation, 30 to 40 (2θ), steps of 0.014, 0.1 sec per step), giving a peak at 12.8° and further peaks at 16.1, 24.7 and 28.5.
