2-Hydroxy-1-methyl-9,10-anthracenedione is an intermediate in synthesizing 2-Hydroxy-3-methylanthraquinone (H946680), a derivative of anthraquinone (A679245) which is an important precursor for many drugs, including Emodin (E523000), Aloe-emodin (A575400), Antimalarials such as Rufgallol, and also Antineoplastics used in the treatment of cancer, such as mitoxantrone (M373425), pixantrone (P552500), and the anthracyclines.
