特性
ジンギベレン放置すると樹脂化する。少量の硫酸を含む酢酸中で60℃に加熱するとイソジンギベレンになり，脱水素するとカダリンになる。ショウガの香気成分にはこのほかにセスキテルペンアルコールの一種ジンギベロールzingiberolがある。
