| Pristinamycin IA Usage And Synthesis |
Uses | Virginiamycin B is a depsipeptide antibiotic co-produced with ostreogrycin A, together used as a syngergistic mixture. Virginiamycin B, also known as ostreogrycin B and streptogramin B among other synonyms, was discovered independently and named by several groups, leading to considerable confusion in the literature. Viriginiamycin B acts a syngergist, binding to the conformational change of the peptidyl transferase centre of the 50S ribosome induced by ostreogrycin A. | Uses | One of the two major components of Pristinamycin (Pristinamycin IA and Pristinamycin IIA (or Virginiamycin M1-V673810). | Definition | ChEBI: A cyclodepsipeptide that is (together with pristinamycin IIA) a component of pristinamycin, an oral streptogramin antibiotic produced by Streptomyces pristinaespiralis. Pristinamycin exhibits bactericidal activity against Gram positive organis
s including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. | Contact allergens | Pristinamycin is a systemic antibiotic of the synergistins/
streptogramins class, composed of two subunits: pristinamycin
IA and pristinamycin IIA. It induces several
types of drug reactions such as maculo-papular exanthema,
systemic dermatitis, or acute generalized exanthematous
pustulosis. Some patients have been previously
skin-sensitized by virginiamycin. Crossreactivity
is expected to virginiamycin and to the associated dalfopristin
and quinupristin. |
