Description | This alkaloid from Lobelia in/lata Linn, and L. sessili/lora was originally
designated isolobelanine but later shown to be norlobelanine. It gives well_x0002_crystallized salts including the hydrochloride, m.p. 201-2°C; nitrate, m.p. 193°C
(dec.); methiodide, m.p. 183-4°C and the N-benzoyl derivative, m.p. l25-6°C.
The N-methyl compound is lobelanine (q.v.). On reduction it gives first norlobeline and finally norlobelanidine (q.v.). | References | Wieland, Hermsen., Annalen, 444, 63 (1926) Wieland, Drishaus., ibid, 473, 117 (1929) Wieland, Koschkara, Dane., ibid, 473, 118 (1929) Wieland, Koschkara., ibid, 473, 122 (1929) |
