This product is a pepsin extracted from the gastric mucosa of pigs, sheep or cattle, and is a white or light yellow powder. Dissolved in water, the aqueous solution is significantly acidic. The isoelectric point pH = 1. Hard to dissolve in ethanol, chloroform, ether. Non-toxic, with a special smell of meat; with hygroscopicity.Pepsin can be used as a digestive drug. It is often used for dyspepsia caused by excessive consumption of protein foods, digestive dysfunction during recovery from illness, and symptoms of pepsin deficiency caused by chronic atrophic gastritis, gastric cancer, and pernicious anemia. However, it is forbidden to be used in combination with alkaline drugs or sucralfate drugs.
