硫酸软骨素是从牛软骨中提取制备的酸性粘多糖，主要是硫酸软骨素C。
硫酸软骨素广泛存在于动物的软骨组织中，在骨腱、韧带、皮肤、角膜等组织中也有。
在软骨中，硫酸软骨素与蛋白质结合成蛋白多糖，并与胶原蛋白结合在一起。
硫酸软骨素纳为白色或类白色的粉末，有引湿性，水中易溶，丙酮和96%乙醇中几乎不溶。
Product properties: Chondroitin Sulfate Bovine is extracted from bovine, it mainly contains chondroitin sulfate A & chondroitin sulfate C. Chondroitin Sulfate is widely found in animal cartilage, also existing in bone tendon, ligament, skin, cornea and other tissues. In cartilage, chondroitin sulfate binds proteins to proteoglycan and it binds to collagen. Chondroitin sulfate sodium is white powder and water soluble.
Functions: Chondroitin sulfate is a sulfated glycosaminoglycan (GAG) composed of a chain of alternating sugars (N-acetylgalactosamine and glucuronic acid). It is usually found attached to proteins as part of a proteoglycan. A chondroitin chain can have over 100 individual sugars, each of which can be sulfated in variable positions and quantities. Chondroitin sulfate is an important structural component of cartilage and provides much of its resistance to compression. Along with glucosamine, chondroitin sulfate has become a widely used dietary supplement for treatment of osteoarthritis.
