Compound 2: 7-Chloro-1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-1,8-naphtyridine-3-carboxylic acid

To a solution of ethyl 7-chloro-1-cyclopropyl-6-fluoro-4-oxo-1,4-dihydro-1,8-naphtyridine-3-carboxylate (0.1g, 0.32 mmol) in THF (5 ml) was added conc.HCl (45 μL, 0.7 mmol). The reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 2 h. After completion of the reaction by TLC, reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature. The solid precipitated was filtered to give the title compound as a solid (70 mg, 78%).
