Intermediate 14 3- (pyridin-3-yl)propanamide To a solution of 3-(pyridine-3-yl)propionic acid (500 mg, 3.27 mmol) in DCM (10 mL), at 0°C was added oxalyl chloride (0.84 ml, 9.81 mmol) dropwise. The reaction was allowed to warm to room temperature, stirred for 3 h and then concentrated. The residue was dissolved in DCM (15 mL), cooled to 0°C and ammonia gas bubbled through the solution for 15 min. The reaction was then concentrated and the resulting white solid was triturated in water (8 mL). The solid was filtered and dried under vacuum to afford the title compound as white solid (200 mg, 40%); m/z = 151.2 (MH)⁺.
