To a solution of 5,7-dichloropyrazolo[1,5-a]pyrimidine (2.0 g, 10.64 mmol) in CHC13 (l5mL) was added NCS (1.7Obg, 12.76 mmol). The mixture was heated to 90°C under microwave irradiation for 2.5 hr. The solvent was removed in vacuo and the crude product was purified by flash column chromatography using a 9:1 v/v Hexanes:Ethyl acetate to afford the title compound (2.0 g, 90% yield) as a white crystalline solid. MS m/z 223.76 [M+1].
