Yield: 8.3 g

Reaction Conditions:

with copper dichloride at 0 - 20; for 4 h;

Steps:

5
To a solution of 6-bromo-2-chloropyridin-3-amine (xxv) (10 g, 48.2 mmol, 1 eq) in acetonitrile (100 mL) was added isoamyl nitrite (16.94 g, 144.61 mmol, 19.47 mL, 3 eq) and copper dichloride (12.96 g, 96.41 mmol, 2 eq) at 0°C. After addition, the mixture was stirredat 20°C for 4 hours. Solvent was removed in vacuum to give residue. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (Petroleum ether) to give 6-bromo-2,3-dichloropyridine (xxvi) (8.3 g, 36.58 mmol, 75.89% yield) as a white solid.1H NMR (DMSO-d6, 400 MHz): d 8.11 (d, J = 8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.77 (d, J = 8.0 Hz, 1H).
