6-Phenyl-3,4-dihydro-1(2H)-naphthalenone synthesis

9synthesis methods
-

Yield:71912-46-4 75%

Reaction Conditions:

with tetrakis-(triphenylphosphine)-palladium;potassium carbonate in toluene at 90;Inert atmosphere;Suzuki Coupling;

Steps:

6-phenyl-3,4-dihydronaphthalen-1(2H)-one 4

To the solution of 3 (5.00 g and 20.82 mmol) in toluene, phenylboronic acid (2.79 gand 22.90 mmol) and potassium carbonate (5.76 g and 41.64 mmol), a catalytic amountof tetrakis(triphenylphosphine)palladium(0) (50 mg and 0.04 mmol) was added undernitrogen. The resulting mixture was then heated to reflux overnight. The reaction mixturewas then filtered, evaporated under low pressure, and after chromatography (petroleumether:ethyl acetate 20:1) to give 3.65 g of 4 as a white powder (75% yield), m.p. 105.7~107.3 C.
