5.3. General procedure for catalytic hydrogenation of pyrones

General procedure: Pyrone was dissolved in MeOH/CHCl3 (5 mL, 1:1) and stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere (balloon) for 2 h in the presence of 10% Pd/C. The suspension was filtered and the solvent evaporated in vacuo. Purification by silica gel column chromatography eluting with MeOH (0-1%) in dichloromethane gave the product.
