Triphenylmethyl Chloride synthesis

10synthesis methods
Triphenylmethyl Chloride may be prepared by the reaction of triphenylmethanol with acetyl chloride, or by the Friedel–Crafts alkylation of benzene with carbon tetrachloride to give the trityl chloride-aluminium chloride adduct, which is then hydrolyzed.

Yield:76-83-5 100%

Reaction Conditions:

with Vilsmeier reagent in 1,4-dioxane at 80; for 0.5 h;

Steps:

212

0.44 g (3.4 mmol) of the crystal of N, N-dimethylchloromethyleneiminium chloride synthesized in Example I-101 was suspended in 10 mL of 1,4-dioxane, 0.72 g (2.00 mmol) 8 mmol) in 1,4-dioxane 4 mL was added dropwise at room temperature. When stirred at 80 ° C. for 30 minutes, a homogeneous solution was obtained. Sodium bicarbonate water and dichloromethane were added, the organic phase was separated, and the solvent was distilled off, whereby 0.78 g of triphenylmethyl chloride was obtained in a quantitative yield.
