Hazard Information | Back Directory | [Synthesis]
Example 16b Preparation of 2-fluoro-4-formylbenzonitrile: Pyridinium chlorochromate (7.39 g, 34.27 mmol) was added to a solution of 2-fluoro-4-(hydroxymethyl)benzylcarbonitrile (5.18 g, 34.27 mmol) in methylene chloride (150 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 4 hours. Upon completion of the reaction, the mixture was allowed to undergo rapid filtration through a short silica gel pad and the silica gel pad was washed with dichloromethane. The filtrates were combined and concentrated under reduced pressure to give 2-fluoro-4-formylbenzonitrile as a white solid (4.6 g, 90% yield). | [References]
