2-Amino-3-bromophenol is a useful reagent for organic synthesis and other chemical processes. | [Synthesis]
Step B: Synthesis of 2-amino-3-bromophenol. A dichloromethane solution (10 mL, 10 mmol) of 1.0 M boron tribromide was added slowly and dropwise via syringe to a dichloromethane (30 mL) solution of 6-bromo-2-methoxyaniline (1.01 g, 5 mmol) under cooling conditions in an ice bath. The reaction mixture was slowly warmed to room temperature and stirred continuously overnight. Upon completion of the reaction, the reaction was quenched by the addition of methanol (10 mL) and the solvent was subsequently removed by rotary evaporator to afford the target product 2-amino-3-bromophenol (0.87 g, 92% yield). | [References]
