This high-purity sodium hydroxide monohydrate is an essential precursor in the synthesis of sodium-ion cathode materials. It is commonly used in the preparation of layered oxides, both P-type and O-type, such as sodium nickel iron manganese oxide (NFM).[] In a typical synthesis, transition metal salts are co-precipitated with aqueous battery-grade sodium hydroxide to form a transition metal hydroxide precursor. The co-precipitated precursor is then mixed with sodium hydroxide powder and calcined in air, first at 500 °C and then at 900 °C, to yield the desired sodium cathode material. Our high-purity sodium hydroxide monohydrate has many additional uses beyond battery research, for example as a synthetic reagent for sodium materials, as an alkaline electrolyte in electrochemistry, or a high-purity base. |
