Purple-brown powder. Solubility in water (50°C) is 100g/L. The aqueous solution is reddish-purple. Addition of 1 mol/L sodium hydroxide solution remains reddish-purple. Addition of hydrosulfite and warming turns it colorless. Addition of sodium perborate does not restore the original color. In concentrated sulfuric acid, it is bluish-red, and upon dilution, it becomes rose-red. In concentrated nitric acid, it is orange-red, and upon dilution, it becomes light reddish-brown. | [Uses]
